Will the normalisation of relations with Israel by the rotten Arab States trigger the urgent call for unity among the Palestinians ?
Will the fractured political factions put heads together to stop the spread of corrosive divisions?
Will the fractured Palestinian political factions restore unity?
Will the different ideological groups concentrate their energies to fight fascist Israel?
It seems that the different factions have realized that the only avenue to them is to erase divisions, overcome ideological differences and rely on their own forces to fight the colonisers. From independent sources I gather that the negotiations are far more pregnant with optimism than the previous meetings. If ever the so called main dominating groups fail to deliver unity, the people of Palestine will surely get rid of them.
Do you remember what Jared Kushner (Son-in-law of president Trump) the White House senior adviser said during the Manama Workshop? I believe the majority of us think the son-in-law is a clown but Israel has never given a damn about the proposals of Saudi Arabia which were re-endorsed over the years by the Arab League.
I believe otherwise… Mr Kushner Said “ I think we will have to recognize that if ever there is a deal, it’s not going to be along the lines of the Arab peace initiative (…) It will be somewhere between the Arab Peace Intitative and between the Israeli position. Arab Peace Intitative was proposed by Saudi Arabia in 2002. The intitative called for normalized ( Yes, a term which was used 18 years ago ) relations between Israel and other Arab States in exchange of full withdrawal by the fascist Israel from lands occupied in the 1967 war, including the Golan Heights, East Jerusalem and the Westbank.
Israel has never given a damn about the proposals of Saudi Arabia which were re-endorsed over the years by the Arab League.
Last Saturday Palestinian groups led by Fatah and Hamas agreed on a “ Unified Field Leadership” comprising all groups and factions which will coordinate and lead in a coherent manner “comprehensive popular resistance” against the Israeli occupation. The “Unified Field Leadership” called for Tuesday ( The day 15th September )- The United Arab Emirates (UAE)and Bahrain’s foreign minister signed an agreement with Israel at the White House establishing full ties in gross violation of the Arab peace initiative, a day of popular rejection. But the day of popular rejection was not followed worldwide. The Unified Fixed Leadership must draw the necessary lessons.
It is good to see what president Mahmoud Abbas has budged from his previous stand to hold such meeting because Hamas has not honoured previous unity pact. In a certain way Mahmoud Abbas was playing the wild card of the Israelis. So it is good to see that various Palestinians entities including Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Hamas’s Ismail Haniya, Ziyad Al-Nakhala of Islamic Jihad and many others have met on numerous occasions in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, Beirut and elsewhere.
Thank you Bahrain ! Thank you United Arab Emirates ! Thank you Trump ! At least your corrupt actions have brought unity withing the top rung of the Palestinian leadership. Now it is time for the unified leadership to offer some hope to the masses which are crushed by the effect of covid-19.
What is the most important objective of the ‘Unified Field Leadership’ ? TO SAVE THE PALESTINIAN CAUSE !
Yes save the Palestinian cause because there is a big conspiracy to erase the Palestinians and the Palestinian cause from all agendas.
The Palestinians must transcend all their differences to save the Palestinian cause…
And I fervently hope that Hamas and Fatah will reconcile for ever…Hamas and Fatah have been at loggerheads since 2007 when Hamas overcame forces of Fatah from Gaza
The reconciliation even if it is genuine will take time before the Palestinians start to believe. Scepticism will run the day for a long time. So the onus is on Hamas and Fatah to convince the people of their good-faith. The Israeli Intelligence will not remain idle. Seeds of divisions will be sowed…
Jibril Rajoub secretary general of Fatah’s central committee said that the different Palestinian factions agreed that there will be a change in the rules of engagement with Israeli occupation forces.
Rajoub also said « we will not allow the occupation to uproot an olive tree or injure one Palestinian without paying the price ».
Yes…. Yes ! Time to unite ! Time to reflect and time to act worldwide
