Mr Issac Jan Mahomed was born on 23rd September 1920 in the village of Midlands. He has gone to school till the standard 3 and thereafter, he helped his dad as Ox Carter and sugar cane Cutter. He worked as Sugar Cane Cutter on Britannia sugar cane mill and got married at the age of 19yrs old and had 5 children, 3 sons and 2 daughters. He is blessed with 17 grandchildren, 25 grand grand children and 3 great grand grand children. Then, he was enlisted in the British Army in the year 1947 till 1950 as a Military Police. In the year 1952, his family left Midlands village for Mesnil / Phoenix. From 1964 to 1980 he worked as scavenger in the Municipality of Vacoas/Phoenix. He was greatly, involved in social work, E.g. he took the steps to put a post office in the locality of Mesnil which is situated vis à vis Mesnil Mosque, He and his friend Goolam Peerbaccus also founded and construct the Mosque of Castel. He was a very hard worker and always lived up to life according to his generation. He is a very pious person. He loves his family and always wants them to be united. He is an open-minded man. He also liked to move on in life and to be independent which lead him to success. By the Grace of God he is in very good company that he is still with us today. His dearly yearned was to travel around the world.
